RCS Success
In January 2017 the goal was to review and improve safety standards to ensure compliance with legal requirement and client approval. By September 2017 initial goals were met and new targets approved to attain ISO 9001:2015 (Quality), 14001:2015 (Environmental) and 45001:2018 (Health and Safety).

What we do
ISO Standards
RCS achieved ISO certification for 9001 / 14001 & 45001 in June 2018. SS Safety helped bring together the strong management system foundations already in place to create a structure approved to ISO standard. Initially a non-UKAS accreditation body was chosen. In 2023 RCS decided to change to the UKAS governed standard creating an integrated system and passing certification audit without difficulty.
Health and Safety Understanding
I (Shaun Smith (Director)) have worked directly with RCS throughout as is the case with all SS Safety Ltd clients. Although I have always had a good practicable approach learning haulage and the biosolids industry was required from day one and I am still learning today. Knowing the industries we represent is essential as is knowing the employees and personalities that run the departments and do the tasks on the ground. I take pride in knowing the industries within which I work. Legal advice and practicable procedure cannot otherwise be delivered.
Training
RCS recognised early the challenges of training and informing employees of change. The scope of work from a location perspective spreads from Cumbria, through Yorkshire and throughout East Anglia. To ensure training and understanding of policy, procedure and client requirements was effectively managed RCS have invested in a learning management system (LMS). SS Safety supply and manage this system. We also design, create and launch all the digital learning content backed with tracking, reports and historical data of all users. RCS now have over 40 bespoke digital courses covering safety, procedure and policy. This guarantees worker and contractor knowledge, whilst saving time, money and lost time.
Site Specific Knowledge
SS Safety don't just sit behind the desk. Site specific and process specific knowledge is essential. If RCS work on a site SS Safety whenever practicable will be there. I cannot honestly state all sites have been visited but I can confidently state that almost all have. For a haulage company with over 100 employees that's not easy to achieve, anyone who thinks health and safety is achieved simply by churning out documents and reading legislation only knows half at best.
